Leslie Cheung's beloved sister has passed away
1 Dec – It was reported that Ophelia Macpherson Cheung, sister of the late Hong Kong superstar Leslie Cheung, has recently passed away.
According to Oriental Daily, Ophelia's daughter Ayesha confirmed recently that her mother passed away from lung disease on 25 November at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital.
She added that Ophelia went peacefully and that a viewing will be held at the Hong Kong Funeral Parlor on 20 December.
Ophelia was the eldest daughter of the Cheung family, and 18 years older than Leslie. Nonetheless, the two of them were close, and she once revealed that she regretted the fact that she didn't say yes to Leslie's plan that they migrate to Australia back when he was still alive and well.
In another interview, Ophelia also shared that she had not participated in any Leslie Cheung related memorial event since his passing in 2003, as the singer is always in her heart.
As for her own success, Ophelia was a former Women's Commission member, and was named one of Hong Kong's Top Ten Outstanding Youth in 1978.
She was 77.
