Leon Lai surprises many by joining "Mask Singer"
22 Sep - Hong Kong Cantopop Heavenly King Leon Lai recently surprised many by appearing as a masked performer on the Chinese variety show, "Mask Singer", Mingpao reported.
In the show that was based on the Korean variety programme, "King of Mask Singer", Leon appeared on stage with his face hidden behind a mask resembling his Mingfu Man character and performed Stefanie Sun's "Encounter".
While many members of the panel thought that the voice was familiar and sound similar to Leon Lai, guests Ella Chen and Matilda Tao expressed their uncertainty due to the masked singer's talkative and cutesy act, which is nothing like the introverted Leon.
It was not until he took off the mask that everybody stood up and gave him a round of applause.
When asked why a star like him would join the show, Leon stated that he just wanted to have fun and that the nature of the show was suitable for him.
