Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke Strip Down for Body Positive Lingerie Campaign

Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke are being applauded for stripping down to their underwear for a lingerie company’s Lonely Girls Project campaign.

The “Girls” stars bared all in un-Photoshopped images of them wearing the Lonely brand in lace lingerie, hanging around in a bathroom. No big deal.

The Lonely Label is a New Zealand-based clothing company whose mission is to promote positive body images through an “ongoing journal series featuring candid portraits of inspiring women in their own spaces wearing Lonely, their way,” according to their website.

“Instead of being objectified, the women who participate in these campaigns – in this case, Lena and Jemima – are empowered and exhibit real beauty that will hopefully help women everywhere feel a little more liberated,” the brand told DazedDigital.

Of course, Dunham is no stranger to promoting body positive messages.

In March, the “Girls” star wrote in her Lenny newsletter that she was finished with being Photoshopped. Her decision came after seeing a three-year-old picture of her altered in a Spanish magazine making her features unrecognizable.

Dunham said she’s “done with allowing images that retouch and reconfigure my face and body to be released into the world.

“This body is the only one I have. I love it for what it’s given me. I hate it for what it’s denied me. And now, without further ado, I want to be able to pick my own thigh out of a lineup,” she continued.

“If any magazines want to guarantee they’ll let my stomach roll show and my reddened cheek make an appearance, I am your girl,” Dunham vowed. “Anything that will let me be honest with you. But moreover, I want to be honest with me.”
