LEGO launches James Bond Aston Martin DB5 with working ejector seat

Toy manufacturer LEGO has today unveiled a brand new set based on James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DB5.

Naomie Harris, the incumbent Miss Moneypenny, was on hand at LEGO’s flagship store in London’s Leicester Square to unveil the new 1:8 scale car model which comes equipped with working gadgets including an ejector seat and machine guns.

Featuring 1,290 pieces in total, the DB5 model is the latest in the Creator Expert series and features a plethora of authentic gadgets and gizmos to mirror those found in James Bond’s Goldfinger DB5.

It is available exclusively from LEGO Stores and shop.lego.com from July 18, 2018, retailing for £129.99.

Speaking at the launch, Naomie Harris said: “It’s such an honour to be here. To see the iconic DB5 reimagined in brick form is such an exciting moment to be part of and the attention to detail on the model is truly remarkable.”

James Bond’s DB5 was first introduced in 1964’s Goldfinger where it wowed audiences with its sleek lines, growling engine, and hidden gadgets. It returned in 2012’s Skyfall for the film’s explosive climax.

Designer Michael Psiaki said: “James Bond fans will go wild for all of the authentic features and functions we’ve put into this car including the tyre-scythes, pop-up machine guns, and working ejector seat. The iconic status of James Bond’s DB5 makes this car a perfect fit for the Lego Creator Expert series.”

With a recommended age of 16+, the Creator Expert is pitched at older brick fans, featuring complex components and working mechanisms. The new Aston Martin DB5 sure to delight 007 fans young and old.
