The legendary singer Tina Tuner has sadly died at the age of 83, the star's spokesperson has confirmed.

In a moving statement, the unnamed spokesperson told the media: "Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock'n Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model."

Tina's illustrious career spanned more than sixty years and birthed iconic tracks such as What's Love Got To Do With It, The Best, Private Dancer and Proud Mary.

The musical artist initially shot to fame alongside her abusive ex-husband Ike Turner, with whom she regularly performed the classic song River Deep, Mountain High. Their relationship, and the domestic abuse perpetuated by Ike, was the focus on a 1993 Hollywood biopic starring Angela Bassett, What's Love Got to Do with It, which went on to win three Oscars.

Tina was responsible for selling over 100 million records worldwide, and won eight GRAMMYs (as well as being nominated for 17 others).
