"The Legend of Zhen Huan" uncut version to take some time
18 Jan - Director Zheng Xiaolong recently revealed it would take a little bit of time for him to release the uncut version of his hit 2011 drama, "The Legend of Zhen Huan".
As reported on Sohu, the director, who previously said that he is preparing the full version of the 76-episode drama, stated that it's very tough trying to piece it altogether.
"The deleted parts are mainly the parts that I thought were wordy, poorly performed and slow-paced. This is a complicated task and may take some time. I hope everyone will understand," he said.
At the same time, Zheng said that he still has a good angle to create, mainly on the story of Chun Yuan, the late first wife of the Yongzheng Emperor of whom Zhen Huan is said to resemble.
As for netizens now criticising the drama after many years, Zheng said, "Netizens are now watching the drama with a magnifying glass and think deeply about it. So, there are many questions that even I can't answer myself."
The drama, also known as "Empresses in the Palace", stars Sun Li as Zhen Huan, a kind daughter of a nobleman who finds herself having to resort to palace schemes in order to survive. Chen Jianbin also stars as Yongzheng Emperor.
