Lee Heung Kam passed away at 88

5 Jan – Veteran Hong Kong actress Lee Heung Kam has recently passed away.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who had gradually withdrawn from the acting scene since 2012 following a fall that caused mobility problems, was revealed to have breathed her last on 4 January.

"Her condition deteriorated last month," said her daughter, Siu Ji Wan. "I helped her shower and cut her nails, then feed her lunch. But she didn't swallow her food. The nurse tried to help, but she was no longer aware. When the doctor came out of the room, they told me that my mother had passed away."

Siu admitted that many people were saddened by the news of her mother's death, but assured that Lee went peacefully.

"I have been mentally prepared for her passing, and had hoped that she would go in peace. It was a blessing to see her passed away safely," she said.

Lee started her career at 16 by joining an opera troupe, before making her big screen debut in 1960. She had starred in movies like, "The Three Lucky Men" (1969), "All's Well, Ends Well" (1992), as well as TVB series including "Happy Family", "Moonlight Resonance", and "The Greatness of a Hero".

She was 88.
