Lea Salonga wants a script better than "Sana Maulit Muli"
2 Sep – Lea Salonga has no qualms working with former onscreen partner Aga Muhlach, only if there is a script tremendous enough that it could surpass their previous hit film.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the musical star who spoke about a reunion movie with Muhlach, stated that the two of them had set a very high bar with their previous 1995 movie, "Sana Maulit Muli".
"That's all our fault. We raised the expectations so damn high that where do you go from here?" she said.
Nonetheless, she is touched that a lot of people are still interested in seeing her and Muhlach on screen together once again, and hopes that people will be able to separate reality from fiction.
As to how the two of them created such a great chemistry in the 1995 film, Salonga said that Muhlach was still nursing a broken heart when they were filming the movie in San Francisco, which made it easy for him to be in character and channel his emotions into the story.
"When we resumed shooting in Manila, he was dating Dayanara Torres. They had just finished making their movie and I think they got together. So when we shot all of the stuff in Manila, in Baguio, he didn't make a move on me. Obviously, the heart wasn't so broken anymore," she said, stressing that it was timing that caused the two of them to not end up together.
