You can’t get much more indulgent than caviar. That is, until you pile it high atop a fluffy baked potato. Such wonders are par for the course on the menu of Caviar Kaspia’s glamorous new Los Angeles restaurant.

To design such an opulent eatery, located on Melrose Place, of course, the nearly century-old caviar house worked with French fashion designer Alexis Mabille to oversee the design of the primary spaces. For the lounge, Mabille tapped L.A.-based designer Tiffany Howell—whose firm Night Palm has designed homes for California a-listers such as Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, Elaine Welteroth, and Laura Ferrier—to channel all the glamour of champagne wishes and caviar dreams. “We wanted to honor the French roots of Kaspia, but for it to reflect the feel of Hollywood," Howell tells us.

To do that, Howell worked with a palette of soft amber, cognac, and bronze to create an environment that was warm and also channeled Kaspia’s original Paris location just off Place de la Madeleine. The L.A. location features custom seating including banquettes covered in Pindler velvet, and glossy finishes like mirrored walls and a gleaming Murano chandelier. But there are also distinct, California-cool inflections, like a sage-green marble bar area and soft, burnished surfaces.

“I wanted the lounge to feel somewhere between the feel of The Great Gatsby and the tone of The Virgin Suicides, with a hint of a glossy Helmut Newton photograph,” Howell, who had Lana del Rey on repeat while working on her design vision, says.
