23 Jan – Although he previously declined to reveal the reason for his departure from TVB, senior actor Lau Kong finally opened up about his decision in an interview with a weekly magazine.
As reported on Mingpao, the 73-year-old actor who announced his departure at the TVB Anniversary Awards last week, shared recently that he decided not to renew his contract with the company after TVB decided to reduce his workload yet again.
"I am a full-time actor with a one-year contract. The company didn't pressure me on my fee, only reduced my workload. But reducing my workload is equivalent to having no guarantee that I will get any project," he said.
Lau said that one may think that the work reduction means that he will have time to rest, though it is further from the truth.
"It can also mean that there is no time to rest, because your work becomes unbalanced," he added.
The actor added that TVB has previously done this before, and that he just could not accept it happening for the second time. Lau added that he is just thankful that the company has helped him make his decision to leave once and for all.
