LA Residents Impacted by Wildfires Can Book $10 Amtrak Tickets with This Promo Code
Amtrak has teamed up with the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency to provide the discount.
A local rail company is making it easier to travel across California for those who have been displaced by the wildfires, offering rides for $10 or less on Amtrak across the state.
Impacted residents and travelers can book the discounted tickets on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train, the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency shared with Travel + Leisure. The discounted tickets are valid for one-way coach travel between any two of the 29 stations on the Pacific Surfliner route between San Luis Obispo and San Diego.
To book the $10 tickets, travelers should book on pacificsurfliner.com and use the promo code “V505” to receive the discounted fare at checkout. Travelers must book by Jan. 17, and travel between Jan. 13 and Jan. 24.
The Pacific Surfliner travels 351 miles along the California coast from San Diego all the way up to San Luis Obispo. Along the way, it passes through popular California destinations like Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Anaheim, as well as several stops in the Los Angeles area.
The Los Angeles wildfires, which first broke out last week, have so far burned tens of thousands of acres and are still raging, spurred on by heavy winds. The two largest are the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, which are 17 percent and 35 percent contained, respectively.
Since the blazes broke out, major airlines have issued and extended flight waivers, including United Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, and Delta Air Lines, and other companies in the travel industry have stepped up to help from rideshare companies to hotels and beyond.
Uber is providing ride credits of up to $40 for displaced residents to get to designated shelters through Jan. 25 with the promo code “WILDFIRE25,” while Uber and Postmates are donating $1 for every ride booked or delivery order placed in Los Angeles County to World Central Kitchen up to $1 million.
Fellow rideshare company Lyft is similarly providing up to $25 in ride credits with the promo code “CAFIRERELIEF25.” Lyft’s code is valid for up to 2,000 riders through Jan. 15.
Hotels across the city are also offering free or discounted rates to those who have been displaced, Airbnb is providing free, temporary housing, and vacation home company Pacaso has created a program to help homeowners donate stays to victims of the fires.
