KZ Tandingan still plans to perform "Anak" at "Singer 2018"

The singer says that it's natural for her to perform the Freddie Aguilar song due to its popularity in Asia

7 Mar – KZ Tandingan recently revealed that she still has plans to perform the popular Filipino song, "Anak" on the Chinese singing competition, "Singer 2018".

As reported on Push, the singer who spoke about performing the song in previous interviews, stated that the song is one of the most iconic Original Pilipino Music (OPM), and that it also has its own Chinese version, "Nide Yingzi".

"Aside from being one of the most beautiful Filipino songs ever written, it is also very famous in China. So they will understand it because they know the song," she said.

Tandingan also stated that she is proud of the song's popularity outside the Philippines, and that it's one of the songs that connects people because it is well-known.

"Anak", written by the Filipino folk singer Freddie Aguilar in 1977 became one of the most popular songs in the era, with a hundred cover versions and was released in 27 foreign languages.

Even a few Chinese singers have performed the song, including Hong Kong pop stars Alan Tam and Kenny Bee.
