Kurt Russell Eyed For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ reportedly wants to get Kurt Russell on board…

According to The Wrap, the 64-year-old screen icon is being courted for a rather big part in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ sequel.

“The star of ‘The Hateful Eight’ and ‘Furious 7’ is director James Gunn‘s top choice to join the sci-fi sequel, they revealed.

But who will he be playing?

“As ‘The Hateful Eight’ prepares to storm theaters, its star Kurt Russell has emerged as James Gunn‘s choice to play Chris Pratt‘s father in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’.”

That’s right – Kurt Russell is wanted for the role of Star-Lord’s dad.

But it isn’t set in stone… at least, not yet.

“Marvel has not officially offered Russell the coveted part yet, nor has Russell read the script,” they revealed. “But meetings are expected to take place soon.”

Kurt Russell is perhaps most famous for the role of Snake Plissken in the legendary cult movie, ‘Escape From New York’. But he’s also had a pretty good year with ‘The Hateful 8’ as well as ‘Furious 7’ and the acclaimed horror-western, ‘Bone Tomahawk’.

Chris Pratt will be joined by Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista as the Guardians of the Galaxy… and it might be one Guardian in particular who helped Marvel to pique Russell’s interest.

“[Vin] Diesel just worked with Russell on ‘Furious 7’,” they explained, “though it’s unclear whether Diesel lobbied Gunn to cast Russell or played any part in his potential recruitment.”

Either way, it looks as though Kurt Russell is in the mix to take to the big screen as Chris Pratt’s father… and that’s about as perfect casting as you can get.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ heads to cinemas on 28 April 2017.
