"Kung Fu Yoga" is top Asian movie in Malaysia

The Jackie Chan-starrer has also become the No. 1 Chinese New Year 2017 Movie

28 Feb – There's no stopping Oscar Honorary Award winner Datuk Jackie Chan as his latest movie, "Kung Fu Yoga", has once again set records in Malaysia.

With its current RM29.2 million earn at the local box office, the action comedy has become the all-time No. 1 Asian/Chinese movie in Malaysia.

Jackie beats Stephen Chow in this case as "Kung Fu Yoga" has taken over the title of the biggest Chinese movie from Chow's "The Mermaid", which was released last year.

Released on 26 January, just in time for the Chinese New Year season, the Jackie Chan-starrer has also become the No.1 Chinese New Year movie this year.

The movie is still playing in cinemas. Patrons of GSC Cinemas can currently enjoy a Buy 1 Free 1 promotion and get two movie tickets for it at the price of one.

Also starring Hong Kong singer-actor Aarif Rahman, Chinese singer-actor Lay Zhang, Indian actor Sonu Sood and Indian actresses Disha Patani and Amyra Dastur, the movie combines the Chinese martial art with fun Bollywood elements.

"Kung Fu Yoga" stars Jackie Chan as archaeologist professor, Jack, who teams up with Indian professors Ashmita and Kyra to locate the lost Magadha treasure. Their adventure takes them across the globe to exotic locations in Tibet, Dubai and India.
