Koung’s Wan Tan Mee opens 2nd outlet in Bedok North

If you’re an avid wanton mee lover or you’ve simply been up to speed with food-related news, the name and fame of Koung’s Wan Tan Mee should instantly ring a bell. We’ve seen news of its then-slated closure, its relocation and finally, its reopening. It’s been quite a ride, hasn’t it?

Well, it looks like we’ve gone full circle and beyond. The famed wanton mee stall has now opened a 2nd outlet in the freshly-renovated Yi Ho Eating House coffeeshop at Blk 515 Bedok North!

The opening of Koung’s Bedok outlet comes as quite an unexpected—but much-welcomed—surprise to many; myself included. The news was first publicised by a member of the Can Eat! SG Facebook group, who uploaded a picture of its unfinished stall front. The great number of likes and comments the post received certainly serves as a testament to the brand’s popularity.

On the other hand, there has not been any official announcement from Koung’s themselves. Their Facebook page remains rather inactive, with the previous update being about their delayed Geylang East reopening.

Still, Koung’s Bedok outlet has been up and running since 11 Apr 2024. This has been confirmed by another Can Eat! SG Facebook post along with photos geotagged to Yi Ho Eating House’s Google Maps profile.

Easties, rejoice. You can look forward to tucking into Koung’s delicious signature Wanton Noodle (S$5). It is well-noted for its succulent handmade wantons and charcoal oven-grilled char siew.

With a recipe and history dating back to the 1950s, it’s frequently raved about as one of Singapore’s best. And for just S$5? That’s a steal and a half! Of course, if you just can’t get enough, you can opt for the Wanton Noodle with added noodles & ingredients (S$8).

Yi Ho Eating House - Coffeeshop

Patrons of the renovated Yi Ho Eating House have much else to look forward to as well. Jio your family and friends for a feast at the coffeeshop with some comforting chicken hotpot from 8889 Ji Gong Bao, roast meats from Xin Lun Ji and, of course, wanton mee from Koung’s!
