“Scarlet Heart”, the Korean drama remake of the original 2011 Chinese television series of the same name, will be the first Korean drama series to air in Singapore at the same time in South Korea.

Co-produced by American media conglomerate NBC Universal and Korean entertainment giant YG Entertainment, the drama premieres on 29 Aug, and will air on SONY Channel ONE in Singapore every Monday and Tuesday at 9pm.

The remake will follow the plot of the original Chinese drama, which was also based on the fantasy romance novel “Bu Bu Jing Xin”.

The Korean version of “Scarlet Heart” follows a woman from the 21st century who inadvertently travels back in time to the ancient Goryeo dynasty and finds herself caught in political intrigue and complicated relationships.

Helmed by director Kim Kyu Tae, who directed the popular 2009 spy series “IRIS”, “Scarlet Heart” also is also gaining attention for its star-studded cast.

Leading the ensemble cast of princes and princesses is veteran actor Lee Joon Ki, singer-actress IU (real name: Lee Ji Eun), and rising young actor Kang Ha Neul.

Rounding off the cast is Baekhyun of K-pop boyband EXO, model-actor Hong Jong Hyun, and Seohyun of popular girl group, Girl’s Generation.
