Koki Kimura stars in the Japanese version of "True Beauty"
3 Oct - Koki Kimura, the daughter of actors Takuya Kimura and Shizuka Kudo, is making her rom-com debut with "True Beauty", the live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon of the same name.
The model-turned-actress plays the role of Reina Tanikawa, who drops out of school after facing bullying due to her plain appearance. However, after learning how to do her makeup, she begins to transform and finds her life totally changed.
Speaking about the adaptation, Koki expressed, "I love reading the original work, so I was very nervous but also very happy to be able to play Reina Tanikawa. Reina has achieved a dramatic transformation through makeup, but I also tried my best to show my natural face that people want to hide in the play."
"I challenged myself in many ways in this movie... and I hope everyone can feel Reina's excitement and emotions together," she added.
The movie, co-starring Keito Tsuna and Keisuke Watanabe, will be released in two parts - with part one, called "True Beauty Before" to be released in March 2025, and the second part, "True Beauty After" in May 2025.
It is noted that the webtoon was already adapted into a South Korean TV series starring Moon Ka-young, Cha Eun-woo and Hwang In-youp, which aired in 2020.
