The Kingpin will return in Daredevil season 3

When last we saw Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), he had sprung Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) from jail and was busy arranging his own escape. Now, he’ll be back in Daredevil season 3.

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that D’Onofrio, who also starred in Jurassic World and was last seen in The Magnificent Seven remake, is reprising his role as the crime boss. Not coincidentally, the third season will be set in the aftermath of The Defenders.

The end of the superhero team-up series saw Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) recuperating in a convent from the beating Elektra (Elodie Yung) and The Hand dished out to him. It’s a quite deliberate reference to the classic “Born Again” storyline from the comics, when – surprise, surprise – Kingpin learned his secret identity and engineered a meltdown in his personal life.

Meanwhile, Daredevil season 3 will also see a new showrunner in Erik Oleson, who previously worked on The Man in the High Castle and Arrow. But there’s no word yet on when the Man Without Fear will return to the small screen.
