'King of Thieves' trailer: Michael Caine goes crazy in new Hatton Garden Heist movie

Studiocanal has launched two new trailers and the official poster for King of Thieves, the new star-laden film inspired by the 2015 Hatton Garden heist.

The “Full F***ing Trailer” above is absolutely not safe for work unless you’re wearing headphones as it features Michael Caine going on a number of F-bomb laden rants.

This is the second film based on the biggest burglary in UK history which saw a gang of ageing criminals stealing £200m of gold and jewellery over Easter weekend 3 years ago. 2017’s The Hatton Garden Job, starring Matthew Goode and Larry Lamb, was a much lower budget affair than King of Thieves which boasts a number of award-winners in the cast.

Sir Michael Caine leads the crew here, ably supported by Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, Michael Gambon, Tom Courtenay, Paul Whitehouse, and Charlie Cox. It’s directed by Theory of Everything’s James Marsh, and produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

As you can see from the trailer, this looks like vintage Caine and you can imagine his character being the older version of his characters in The Italian Job or Get Carter.

In 2016, eight men stood trial for the crime, with seven of them convicted and handed prison terms of varying length. In January, 2018 four of the ringleaders John “Kenny” Collins, Daniel Jones, Terry Perkins and Brian Reader were ordered to pay back £27.5m or face a further seven years in jail. Perkins died in prison just a week after the ruling.

King of Thieves is in cinemas 14 September.
