"Kimi ni Todoke" to become Netflix's live-action remake

13 Sep – Netflix is set to adapt the hit manga series, "Kimi ni Todoke".

The upcoming series is a collaboration between the streaming giant and TV Tokyo, and sees Sara Minami portraying the lead role as Sawako Kuronuma.

On the other hand, Oji Suzuka will play the role of Sawako's love interest, Shota Kazahaya.

The series is directed by Takehiko Shinji and Takeo Kikuchi, the latter who helmed "Tokyo Alice".

The original manga, written by Karuho Shiina, revolves around the friendship between a misunderstood girl and the popular guy in school.

"Kimi ni Todoke" is the latest manga to get a live-action adaptation in Netflix, following "One Piece", "Death Note", "Yuyu Hakusho", and "Fullmetal Alchemist" among others.
