Kendall Jenner channels old Hollywood glamour with a blonde Marilyn bob
After to the Met Gala, Halloween is arguably the most entertaining time for celebrity dressing. Heidi Klum may be the patron saint of costumes, but the past weekend proved that the stars (or at least, their glam teams) are all in when it comes to creating imaginative ensembles for the spooky holiday.
From Paris Hilton's homage to Britney's 'Toxic' music video to Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler's Edie Sedgwick/Andy Warhol couple's get-up, there were plenty of inventive costumes to be inspired by this year. Kendall Jenner opted to go down the ultra-chic route by channelling Marilyn Monroe.
The 27 year-old model and newly-minted L’Oréal ambassador attended a Halloween party dressed as the iconic Hollywood film star complete with a wavy, platinum blonde bob and Monroe's signature cat-eyes.
Monroe's billowy white dress or her silver plunging gown would have been the obvious choice for an evening out, but Jenner kept things understated by opting for a black turtleneck and white high waisted trousers, the look worn by Monroe in 1953 for a photo shoot at her home. Jenner's hair – created by longtime collaborator Jen Atkin – is most likely a wig but it proves that there's really nothing the model can't pull off when it comes to her locks.
It's not the first time Jenner's gone blonde either. She's previously experimented with sandy hues back in 2019 for Ricardo Tisci's Burberry spring/summer 2020 catwalk show. The previous year, she sported a dramatic '60s blonde beehive wig for another Halloween party in Las Vegas.
To recreate Monroe's sultry make-up, Jenner turned to A-list make-up artist Mary Phillips who gave it a modern spin with flushed cheeks and overlined lips to cheat a fuller, bee-stung effect. "I love a deep nude. And I love lining the lip first," Phillips previously told Bazaar, name-checking L'Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick in 115 as a favourite. "I just love using the lip liner and, usually, I like a little bit of a darker one. Just because I love a little bit of an overly accentuated lip."
Dressing up for Halloween has never felt more elegant.
