Keat Hong Market gets major glowup into food centre & market
After a lengthy renovation period, Keat Hong Wet Market in Choa Chu Kang has re-emerged with a bold and brand-new look. It is now known as Keat Hong Food Centre and Market. Renovations commenced on 1 Apr 2024, and the space officially reopened on 25 Oct 2024.
The space at Block 253 combines traditional wet markets with a contemporary and community-friendly design. It offers locals a variety of affordable food and grocery options. Managed by Kopitiam, the goal is to create an inviting hub for fresh produce and budget-friendly meals.
There are meal options available at S$3.50 or less at every stall and a wide range of cuisines such as Japanese, Korean, Indian and of course, classic local favourites. In a first for Keat Hong estate, halal meat and poultry are also offered.
The Keat Hong Food Centre & Market offers convenience as well with the addition of various payment methods, including PayNow, Visa, and the FairPrice Group App. Using the app gets you 10% off your meal and the ability to redeem Linkpoints (T&Cs apply). NTUC Union members can also enjoy the Kopitiam Signature Breakfast Set at only S$2.20 from 7am to 11am.
The market operates from 3am to 8pm, while the food centre from 6am to 10pm. Operating hours for each individual stall will differ.
The official reopening event is set for 9 Nov 2024, and prominent local government figures will be in attendance. The ceremony will commence from 8.15am onwards with a plaque unveiling and a lion dance performance.
Family-friendly activities like Spend & Win games, photo booths, and cultural performances will run from 9am to 12.30pm. Event attendees can also expect balloon giveaways and gu zheng performances during breakfast, lunch and dinner.
