Kayan Choi apologises for "thanking" the pandemic
24 Apr – Miss Hong Kong 2019 alumna Kayan Choi recently apologised for her Instagram post, after being slammed by netizens for "thanking" the pandemic.
As reported on Mingpao, the issue sparked earlier this week, when the YouTuber posted a photo of her on top of a hill following a hike and wrote, "Thankful for the outbreak. It has sparked my family's exercise genes that have been asleep for so long."
She then added that the family decided to go on a hike together for the first time, though only four of them went as to obey the government' gathering ban.
However, instead of the positive message she tried to send, Kayan was slammed by netizens, who rightfully pointed out the wrong use of the word "thankful" as a lot of people have died of the coronavirus. She then tried to defend herself, saying that she meant to say that there are many worthy things to be thankful for during the outbreak.
However, after receiving more negative response, Kayan decided to change the original wordings on the said post and then wrote, "I admit I was wrong. I shouldn't have used the word thankful and causing misunderstanding."
