Kay Tse defends decision of highly conceptual concert
21 Oct – Kay Tse has recently defended the creative decision of not communicating with fans at her recent concert.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who held her four-day concert "kay...isn't me", stated that she has already explained prior that the concert was not going to be a usual show but a highly conceptual performance.
"This is a concert without audience interaction, handshake, encore, guests, or dancers. We only aimed to give the most authentic feelings. I think the arrangement, stage and visual effects were already rich, so I didn't want the extra things to hinder audiences' appreciation," she said.
When mentioned that some fans were not satisfied with the concept, Kay said that the team was willing to take risks in order to innovate.
"We are willing to accept different opinions. But we also received many comments saying that they are happy with it. But yes, it may be a little bit different from audiences' expectation," she said.
As for fans who were disappointed that she didn't perform a lot of old songs that they wanted to hear, Kay said that she wanted the opportunity to do new things.
"If every singer repeats the same things because they know it is a fan favourite and does not dare to push for innovation, there will be nothing new," she added.
She also dismissed the idea that she was copying Faye Wong's style with her performance and that she was taken aback by the comments.
"This is just the perception of some netizens. It has not affected my performance and I will not change it. We would stick to our original intention," she said.
