When Katy Perry was creating her new spring Katy Perry Collections shoe line, she looked everywhere for inspiration.

But that's what she always does, she says.

"I find inspo in life!" she tells PEOPLE. "Everything from a big statement heel for going out (like the Framing family of heels) to vacay fun (like the Camie Stone sandal) to shoes in raffia and denim that I like to wear running errands in Santa Barbara."

It all comes across in her new launch with HSN, premiering May 9. The nine-shoe collection, which includes fun pops of color for the season, is a new addition for the retailer, and Perry couldn't be happier about the partnership.

"I think pairing my styles with their audience is a wonderful place for growth for both of our brands," she says.

Heading into spring, the "Firework" singer, 39, wanted to have fun with colors and textures for her spring collection, and even though neutrals are popular, Perry doesn't believe in being boring. (She is Katy Perry, after all).

"There are these great woven styles in both a slingback pump and a summer-y two-band sandal, and I get to play with raffia and denim," she says. "All the colorways this season are what I like to call spring neutrals — not everything has to be so pastel, but it can also bring a pop of color to your warm-weather wardrobe."

After first launching Katy Perry Collections in 2017 — and buying back full ownership of it in 2022 — she has dropped dozens of whimsical shoes that she tells PEOPLE fill her with joy, because no outfit is complete without the right touch of flair.

"I feel like my outfit is complete when I step into the perfect pair of shoes," she says. And oftentimes, that's a pair of shoes from her own collection.

She says she "of course" loves the Evie Daisy Flat for a mother-daughter day out with her daughter Daisy Dove, 2, whom she shares with fiancé Orlando Bloom, and is really proud of the "delicate" straps on the Leilei Sandal (and that bamboo heel!).

The American Idol judge has plenty more tricks up her sleeve when it comes to shoe designs. She's already created so much dreamy footwear, but the wheels are always turning. Despite how busy she is, Katy Perry Collections is part of her everyday routine.

"It’s a lot about balance," she says of her routine. "The morning starts with school drop-off, then there are board meetings and Zooms for everything from KPC to De Soi, and then it’s studio time!"

Perry, who considers herself a shoe-lover, is all about making statements with fashion and wants her customers to be able to do the same. One of her favorite shoe-related memories is a time she bought a pair of Dalmatian shoes at a secondhand store that "had ears for flaps and a tone that stuck out."

"Every time I wore them, someone would comment on them, and that's what I wanted to do with my shoe line — stop traffic, start conversations."

The spring KPC styles are available at HSN now. Prices range from $69.99 to $109.00.
