The Princess of Wales wore an eye-catching bright green ensemble for this weekend’s Trooping the Colour parade, which had a greater significance beyond simply being a mood-boosting colour.

To celebrate the first parade of King Charles’ reign – which marks the official celebration of the monarch's birthday – Kate wore a vibrant crystal-embellished emerald green dress by the Singapore-born designer Andrew Gn. To complete her look, she teamed her dress with a matching hat by London-based milliner Philip Treacy, a coordinating green clutch bag and Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond earrings – which neatly matched her blue buttons. While not a designer name we typically associate with Kate, Andrew Gn is a popular choice for red-carpet fashion, with famous fans including Lily Collins and Lady Gaga.

But, as with anything that Kate wears, there was more to her look than first meets the eye. The vibrant green shade is thought to be a nod to her recent appointment as Colonel of the Irish Guards. She was also seen wearing a Cartier shamrock brooch belonging to the regiment, which was loaned to her for the occasion.

Following the parade, Kate waved from the royal balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside other well-dressed members of the family, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla and her own family: Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Kate seems to be changing up her look as of late; not only is the royal opting for brighter hues, but she's also opting for a lighter hair colour. The princess has been subtly switching her signature rich brown colour in favour of lighter tones, just in time for summer.

Her low-key sun-kissed colour uplifts and brightens up the complexion – an instant match for her bright summer wardrobe, from this vibrant green Andrew Gn outfit to her recent rosy pink Elie Saab gown, worn to a royal wedding in Jordan last month. She attended the royal wedding of Crown Prince Hussein to Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif, alongside her husband Prince William, to represent Britain at the ceremony.
