Kate Tsui announces her retirement from showbiz
26 Dec – Kate Tsui recently revealed that she is quitting showbiz for good.
As reported on On CC, the actress, who previously took a break from the industry to continue her Master's studies, shared that she has plans to pursue a doctoral degree and has no intention to balance between her acting career and her studies anymore.
"I did that previously and it was really exhausting. I hope to go for a PhD in something like the educational and clinical aspects of Psychology. I want to go overseas and study many things, gaining wisdom in everyday life," she said.
At the same time, Kate admitted that she couldn't bear the life of a celebrity anymore, having to maintain the appearance and image and spending too much time to look good on camera and in public.
"I have already sold all my properties. I want to settle somewhere in Europe," she added.
Asked if she would ever return to showbiz, Kate said that she would only work behind-the-scenes if that's the case.
Kate joined TVB back in 2004 after winning the Miss Hong Kong pageant. After leaving the company in 2015, she dabbled in jewellery design and completed her master's degree in psychology. She later signed with Wong Cho Lam's management company.
