Kate Middleton could potentially be expanding her already extensive resumé by accepting yet another new role - this time, taking over from her father-in-law, King Charles III.

The title in question, which is Commodore at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, is a pretty big deal in regards to the Royal Family, who have long had links to the exclusive Knightsbridge-based club. For example, some of its former Royal patrons include Prince Philip and Lord Mountbatten.

However, back in 2021, Prince Andrew stepped down as the club's Commodore due to his connection with Jeffrey Epstein. Since then, his brother, Charles has held the role. Until maybe now...

The possible switch-up comes as the club launched their new event on the Isle of Wight as part of the annual Cowes Week. Called 'Women Who Rock the Boat,' it aims to "encourage women into the sailing world." And as the Princess of Wales is already an avid sailor - not to mention a senior member of the Royal family - it makes perfect sense for her to be the new face of the community. Plus, a senior member of the club reportedly stated that Kate would be a "great role model."

This new title doesn't come as easily as other roles she's inherited, like the Princess of Wales, though. According to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail, the Royal Thames Yacht Club is unable to approach the palace with the idea. Instead, the final decision needs to come directly from the Royal Family, with reports that Kate will also have to step forward to confirm or decline.

"The trouble is, Royal protocol dictates that it's up to her and the Royal Family to make the first move," they said.

But thanks to her experience in the sailing world (last year, she joined Team GB in Plymouth for a friendly race against New Zealand), we can totally imagine Kate responding to the invitation with a hard 'yes.'
