Prince William and Kate spent two hours yesterday taking part in workshops and panels with young people in Birmingham to highlight World Mental Health Day. And today, the couple has split up for two separate engagements continuing the theme of highlight mental health.

The Princess of Wales spent the morning at Nottingham Trent University in the midlands to hear how they are working to support students at the start of the academic year. The UK’s Press Association reported that Kate shared she would love to be a student again and that she enjoyed trying out new hobbies during her time studying at St Andrews University. The university was also famously where she met Prince William.

During the visit, Kate also heard about how Nottingham Trent University has created a tool to establish how engaged students are which can help them identify who might need extra support. “The Princess is passionate about ensuring young people have the right tools in place to take care of their mental wellbeing, especially in relation to understanding and managing their own emotions,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. "She is also focused on encouraging young people to build key protective factors such as healthy relationships and communities around them which will help them to lay stronger foundations as they move through life.”

Meanwhile, Prince William was in Milton Keynes visiting their Blue Light Hub, an operational base for three emergency service providers in the area. He met with mental health champions and volunteers to hear about the challenges careers in the emergency services can bring. “Supporting the mental health of this community is a cause close to the heart of the Prince of Wales, as he saw first-hand the challenges emergency responders face on a daily basis whilst serving as a pilot with RAF search and rescue and East Anglian Air Ambulance,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.

Taking part in a panel yesterday, the Prince shared that walking, fresh air and getting away from screens were all ways he looked after his mental health.
