Kate Middleton and Prince William Spent a Night at This Charming Airbnb—See Inside
This might come as a shock to some, but you don't necessarily need a fancy palace (or five) to live like a royal. In fact, as William and Kate proved, sometimes all it really takes is a good vacation rental. While on a Royal Visit last spring, the Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly spent a night at...wait for it, an Airbnb. Sure, vacation rentals might've made cameos on The Crown, but it's not every day you see the future King of England booking a casual stay at an Airbnb. It's unexpected yet refreshing—as if we, too, are that much closer to becoming a royal.
“The royal couple were an absolute pleasure from the time they stepped into the house until the time they left," says Airbnb owner Kim, who hosted the twosome at the property. "They loved the simplicity and privacy of the house and stated they would like to come back with their children."
As for the Airbnb? Well, it's certainly fit for a king and queen. Nestled in Brecon Beacons National Park—a gem of the Welsh countryside—this expansive house offers the best of both worlds: The residence has panoramic mountain views of both the Sugarloaf and the Blorenge, but it's also a quick drive from a town called Crickhowell just in case the Will and Kate wanted to grab a pint at the local pub.
However, it's worth noting that the property, which is aptly named Duffryn Mawr, has everything you need for a great vacation. A billiards room to unleash your competitive streak? A meditation area and steam room for some much-needed self-care? A 40-foot kitchen that's practically begging to have a proper English roast inside? Check, check, and check.
At $1,213 per night, this Airbnb isn't exactly cheap; however, the sticker shock becomes a little easier to swallow once you realize it can sleep up to 16 people. (In other words, you can invite 15 of your favorite people and score a deal!) Want to check out the place first? Keep scrolling for an intimate look at this regal residence.
