Kate Garraway has thanked Elton John for making a special tribute to her and her husband Derek Draper and their family, while performing on stage at the London O2.

The family attended the concert on Monday (17 April) including Kate, Derek and their two children Darcey and Billy.

Elton is currently on his Farewell tour and, during the show, Elton dedicated his famous song 'Don't let the sun go down on me' to the inspiring couple, in recognition of Derek's health struggles and the difficult time they have been through as a family.

Kate shared the amazing moment captured by someone at the concert on Instagram, along with a heartfelt caption.

The presenter said: "#eltonjohn & @davidfurnish you gave the kids & Derek a moment that we will never forget and has lifted their spirits again to feel anything is possible. Thank you for your inspiring music and huge heart ❤️."

Kate also went on to thank everyone else who made attending the concert possible as a family, with a special mention to Derek's carers, rock entertainment team, the O2 team and Addison Lee taxi service.

Many of Kate's fans and celebrity friends were quick to comment their happiness to see the special moment, with co-star Susanna Reid commenting "So beautiful❤️🙌👏" and close friend Robert Rinder replied "😳 😢".

With Kate's husband Derek Draper contracting Covid-19 in March 2020, Derek was able to go home by April 2021 and since then has required around the clock care.

A truly unforgettable moment for the family!
