Karla Estrada denies plan to join politics

The actress laughs off rumours that she wants to run as mayor of Tacloban City

21 Jul - Karla Estrada has denied reports saying that she is planning to run as mayor of Tacloban City in Leyte against the incumbent mayor, Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez.

As reported on PEP, the actress who was asked about the rumours recently, stated that she finds it funny that people made such speculations, since she has no intention to do that at all.

"I don't know how these talks came about. Maybe they saw me in Tacloban, what I did," she said.

Estrada is known to constantly visit the city and distribute assistance, especially when disaster strikes.

When asked if she would say yes to working with Gonzales' opponent to win the position, the actress said that she will do what she likes rather than fulfilling other people's dream.

She added that it is a sad fact that some people would think that one has a hidden agenda when one is trying to help.

"I am from Tacloban. It's where I was born, where I grew up. I have the right to come home and help around, to do good for my people," she added.

When asked if she would join politics, Estrada stated that she has no plans to do so.
