Karen Mok retires from concert tours
3 Jun – Hong Kong songstress Karen Mok recently announced that she will no longer hold concert tours following the completion of The Ultimate Karen Mok Show.
As reported on Wenweipo, the singer, who announced the news at the press conference of the Global Chinese Golden Chart Awards Showcase in Singapore early this week, clarified that she is not retiring from showbiz, just from touring the world.
"I will never retire from showbiz. My life is all about the performance. But I have other plans for the second half of my career. There will be surprises for everyone," she said.
Karen stated that the nature of the entertainment industry made it difficult for a performer to understand where they have peaked in their career. However, an artiste should know when it's time for them to call it a day.
"It is time for me to move on to the next thing," she said.
Nonetheless, the singer did share that she has plans to develop the Chinese musical scene in the likes of Broadway and the West End.
"I think Chinese audiences are ready for their own musical stage," she said.
