Julia Roberts joins "Smurfs: The Lost Village"

19 Jan – Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts is reportedly joining the voice cast of the upcoming animated comedy, "Smurfs: The Lost Village", as a new character named SmurfWillow.
The news was revealed by People magazine who interviewed the actress regarding the role.
"Smurfs are such a fun part of our animated culture," she said.
"They were popular when I was a child and they were popular when my kids were little. It's fun to be part of such a sweet group that continues to entertain young people."
Not much details has been revealed about the new and seemingly wise character, but she is seen wearing the same type of red hat as Papa Smurf, and seems to be almost the same age as well.

Apart from Roberts, other new cast joining the movie include Michelle Rodriguez, Ellie Kemper, and Ariel Winter who will each be playing characters named SmurfStorm, SmurfBlossom, and SmurfLily respectively.

The four of these actresses will be joining previously announced Demi Lovato as Smurfette, Rainn Wilson as the evil Gargamel, Joe Manganiello as Hefty, Jack McBrayer as Clumsy, Danny Pudi as Brainy, and Mandy Patinkin as Papa Smurf.
The new fully animated "Smurfs" movie will follow Smurfette and her gang of Smurfs; Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an adventure through the Forbidden Forest in search of a mysterious lost village.

With the announcement of new actresses as well as the new female Smurf characters, the film is about to explain the reason why Smurfette had been the only female Smurf among the group all this while until now.
