Joseph Lam admits dating Hiromi Wada
29 Jun – Hong Kong lawyer-turned-entertainer Joseph Lam surprised many recently by revealing that he is now dating controversial actress Hiromi Wada.
As reported on Mingpao, the confession came in an Instagram post, in which Joseph defended the actress for being a divorced woman, saying that Hong Kong netizens and their mothers still have an old-fashioned thinking and discriminated a woman like Hiromi when people of other countries highly regarded divorcees like Angelina Jolie, Meghan Markle and Yang Mi like any other person.
"To truly judge a person, one should look at his or her personality, character, and morality. In this respect, Ms Wada is almost perfect and the kindest person I have ever met in this life. She will help others selflessly, and is sincere with people without other intentions. Although I am an atheist, this Christian spirit of helping others has always impressed me deeply," he added.
Speaking to the media about his confession, Joseph, who once dated Miss Hong Kong 2015 Louisa Mak, stated that he really didn't want his relationship to be in the limelight again after his previous experience, but decided to write the said post after seeing Hiromi being maliciously attacked by netizens online.
When asked if his own mother did not like Hiromi as well, Joseph stated that it would take some time for her, though stressed that she is always supportive of his choices.
As for the actress' previous scandal, in which she had an affair with Hugo Wong while being married to husband Jason Lam, Joseph stated, "From what I understand, she was already estranged from her ex-husband at the time."
