Jolin Tsai learns not to take illnesses lightly

22 Mar – Jolin Tsai was all smiles when she appeared at the Michelin Guide event in Taipei recently, which marks her first event ever since she went on a break to recuperate from her illness.

As reported on Epoch Times, the singer who had to cancel her Milan Fashion Week appearance after she was diagnosed with herpes zoster (shingles) earlier, recalled the moment she was admitted into the hospital.

"Originally I took a four-day off due to gastroenteritis. I decided to go to the hospital for a check-up before going to Milan. The doctor instead advised me not to leave the country and said that I should be hospitalised immediately for further treatment and observation," she said.

Jolin added that she had to cancel all of her work in February in order to treat her illness and prevent the virus from infecting the brain.

"I am thankful to the doctors of NTU. This has been an eye-opening experience. I didn't think too much about my illness, and didn't think it was too serious that I had to be detained," she said.

She also added a reminder for others to go and have a check-up rather than "sleeping it off" whenever they feel they're coming up with something.

"I am fortunate that my body recovered quickly and there was not much complications. Now I just need to find things that will enhance immunity," she added.

But being the workaholic that she is, Jolin admitted that she flew to Thailand as soon as she recovered and used the time she had to write songs for her new album.

When asked if she will still release her new album in summer, Jolin responded, "I wouldn't dare make that promise. It's already March."

She added that her concert tour has also been postponed due to the rescheduling.
