Jolin Tsai, Charlene Choi blasted for not being patriotic

15 Jul - Charlene Choi, Jolin Tsai, and Jackie Chan are among celebrities who were slammed by Chinese fans for not showing solidarity over the recent ruling concerning the territorial claim of the South China Sea.

As reported on Mingpao News, while other stars, including Donnie Yen, Hins Cheung, Wong Cho Lam, and Angelababy are expressing their dissatisfaction over the Permanent Court of Arbitration's ruling that China has no historic title over the waters of the South China Sea, others continue to publish posts concerning themselves instead.

Jolin, who posted a photo with her sister at the Meiji Shrine in Japan, was blasted for not being patriotic, as was Charlene, who published a photo from a photoshoot, and Jackie, who posted a photo from a press conference of his new movie – instead of the image of a map of China with the nine-dash line that the other stars shared online to show their protest.

When asked about it, a frustrated Charlene responded, "I am really speechless with some of these comments. I love my country. Do I have to say it all the time?"

"I donate money each year to help build schools in the rural areas in mainland, and I have always been there to help when natural disasters strike. Do I have to remind people about that too? Everybody has their own responsibility!" she added.
