John Woo is no fan of superhero movies

23 Nov - Just like most of award-winning filmmakers, John Woo too is not fond of superhero movies.

The director, who is currently promoting his new movie "Silent Night", shared in an interview with The New Yorker that he has never been a fan of films with big special effects or anything based on comic books.

"I prefer Martin Scorsese's movies, that kind of cinema. I can't wait to watch 'Killers of the Flower Moon'. I like old-fashioned movies, you know? Real cinema. There aren't many movies like that lately," he said.

As for the recent action movie he liked the most, Woo stated that he loved the 2016 movie, "Hell or High Water", directed by David Mackenzie.

"Silent Night", which is a movie without any dialogue, marks Woo's Hollywood comeback after years of hiatus. It tells the story of a tormented father who embarks on a mission of vengeance to avenge his son's death in a gang's crossfire.
