John Krasinski will be back for "A Quiet Place" sequel

Originally, Krasinski had not wanted to be involved in the second movie

John Krasinski wrote, directed and starred opposite real-life wife Emily Blunt in "A Quiet Place".

19 Oct – Not long after "A Quiet Place" opened in cinemas worldwide last April, a sequel was already greenlit for it.

However, back then it was not confirmed whether director John Krasinski, who also wrote and starred in the movie, would return for the follow-up.

Now The Hollywood Reporter brought news that Krasinski is back on board, at least in a writing capacity.

When Paramount Pictures' chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos previously announced the sequel, Krasinski did not expect to be involved as he had intended the first movie to be a "special experience" shared together with his wife, actress Emily Blunt, who starred opposite him as his onscreen wife.

"Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn't think it would go anywhere," Krasinski was quoted as saying during a Q&A session at the Silver Screen Theatre in Los Angeles. "So, I said to the studio, 'Just go do the movie with somebody else.'"

Despite entertaining pitches from other filmmakers, producer Drew Form liked Krasinski's idea and told him to think about it.

"And then I thought, 'This might really work.' So, I'm currently writing the sequel," Krasinski admitted.

Produced by Michael Bay ("Transformers") with Platinum Dunes' Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, "A Quiet Place" was made on a budget of less than USD21 million and went on to collect USD334.5 million worldwide.

It follows a family who has to live in complete silence to avoid being hunted by alien creatures that attack anything that makes noise.
