13 Jun– John Cena is entering the ring as Jackie Chan's co-star in the independent action thriller, "Project X" (working title).
Cena replaces Sylvester Stallone, who was previously tapped to star in the movie when it was still in development as ""Ex-Baghdad", Variety reports.
Cena will be playing a former U.S. Marine while Chan stars as a Chinese private security contractor, who has to extract oil workers from a refinery that has been attacked. The two team up after the latter learns about the attackers' plan to steal the oil.
Chan is producing the movie, which will be directed by "Need for Speed" helmer Scott Waugh from a script by Arash Amel.

This is another big role for Cena, who's had a positive transition into Hollywood stardom since appearing in movies like "Trainwreck", "Sisters" and "Daddy's Home", and later on voicing the titular bull in "Ferdinand".
This year, the 41-year-old stars in two movies, "Blockers" and the "Transformers" spinoff prequel, "Bumblebee".
He will also be teaming up next with fellow wrestler-turned-actor, Dwayne Johnson, for another action thriller, "The Janson Directive".
As for Jackie Chan, the action star will be seen in this year's "Viy 2: Journey to China" and leading several movies in 2019, including "Knight of Shadows: Between Yin and Yang" and "Rush Hour 4".
