Joel Chan is doing much better as first time dad

8 Apr - It's been eight months since he welcomed his son Jaco, and Joel Chan is now admitting that he is doing much better as a first time father.

In an interview with Mingpao recently, the actor, who sat down to promote his new series, "The Runner", admitted that he was worried he wouldn't be able to be a competent father at first as he and his then-pregnant wife Apple wasn't able to attend parenting classes like most first-time parents due to the pandemic.

"But when Jaco was born, I tried my best to do my part. Now I have no problem feeding him, changing his diapers and coaxing him to sleep. I enjoy this process a lot," he enthused.

Joel said he is thankful to have a very well-behaved child.

"The moment he was born, I realised that this is something that really belongs to me and the rest is just external. The greatest achievement in my life is to marry this wife of mine and have Jaco in our life. I am very grateful."

On the other hand, when asked about his new drama, which he stars yet again with his "The Unholy Alliance" co-star Elaine Yiu, Joel said that he really loved it as it concerns his own hobby - running.

Asked if his wife was ever jealous of him working with Elaine in multiple series, Joel laughed and said, "On the contrary, it is her trust in me that made me want to give her a sense of security. In addition, my partners are usually my good friends, like Elaine and Selena [Lee], and she is more assured with them."
