Jimmy Heung's memorial held recently

12 Dec – A memorial was recently held for the late filmmaker Jimmy Heung, who lost his battle with cancer in Beijing last month.

According to Mingpao News, in the morning of 11 December, his widow, Duanmu Yingzi, as well as other family members, was seen appearing at the Buddhist memorial held at the Universal Funeral Parlour.

The widow later thanked the media for their concern, and assured that she is fine. She also said that she has plans to place his remains in Launtau Island so that more monks can send their blessings for him, though the decision is not final.

"Jimmy was an avid Buddhist, so I will follow his wishes to rest his ashes in a location related to Buddhism," she said.

In regard to Jimmy Heung's previous wish to remake "God of Gamblers", she said that everything was in preparation.

"He always loved movies and would want the glory of Hong Kong film industry to rise again," said Yingzi.

Aside from Jimmy's family members, the memorial was also attended by representatives of the industry, including Charles Heung and wife Mona Fong, Richie Jen, Ng Man Tat, Shirley Cheung, and Anthony Wong.

Meanwhile, other stars such as Stephen Chow, Jackie Chan, Jordan Chan, Julian Cheung and wife, as well as Louis Koo sent floral arrangements.

He was 63.
