“This series is bringing the kosher-food world, something that not everybody knows about even in the Jewish world, out above ground,” said Neil Friedman, co-founder of ChaiFlicks, on the latest episode of Variety‘s “Strictly Business” podcast. “And this is what our M.O. is overall: We’re bringing great programming, whether it’s from Israel, or whether it’s from Poland, out into the world for the Jewish audience and the larger audience.”

“Schmoozing” is hosted by CW (Chaim) Silverberg (pictured above) based on his YouTube series “Tripping Kosher” and is produced by Kosher Style Media. Tsvika Tal is the show’s executive producer.

In addition to giving a sneak peek at his plans for “Schmoozing,” Friedman gave a broad update on the state of ChaiFlicks is as a business, particularly at a sensitive juncture in light of the mass tragedy that claimed more than 1,400 lives in Israel earlier this month. Even as his streaming service paused its marketing efforts, viewership of Israeli programming that is abundant on the service has since surged on ChaiFlicks.

“We still are a Jewish storytelling service for Jewish stories from all over the world, Israel included,” said Friedman. “Our mission is more important now than ever, because Jewish culture and Jewish history is more precious as a result of this conflict.”

“Strictly Business” is Variety’s weekly podcast featuring conversations with industry leaders about the business of media and entertainment. A new episode debuts each Wednesday and can be downloaded on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher and SoundCloud.
