Jessica Chastain looks iconic in a regal purple gown
Seeing as purple is hot off the fashion press right now, we've spotted a number of celebrities on the red carpet this week sporting the fashion trend, including Jessica Chastain at the National Board Of Review Gala on Thursday, 11 January.
Opting for a flattering corset style gown, Jessica looked stunning for the event, with the regal hue of her dress beautifully complimenting her fair skin and distinctive red hair.
While her dress did all the talking, the actress also simply opted for a natural makeup look and Hollywood waves, and finished off her dress with a sophisticated gold necklace.
Although many of us may view purple as a colour that is hard to pair with, our fashion editor Amanada Marcantonio says it's a grown up colour that shouldn't be overlooked.
"Purple can feel a little more flamboyant than say reds and pinks that we tend to lean towards in our wardrobes and should not be mistaken for granny mauve."
While lilac seems to be a trend of the past, deeper, bolder purples are definitely making their way into our high street shops this year.
Another bold purple dress we loved at the Golden Globes on Sunday (7 January) was Oprah Winfrey's outfit.
The 69 year old American TV star looked an absolute vision as she walked the red carpet in a velvet floor length purple gown.
Designed with a stylish off-shoulder finish and sequin detailing, her embellished Louis Vuitton gown definitely made a statement in the fashion world this year.
