Bobs are the haircut of the season. In case you’re not convinced, Jessica Biel just chopped her locks to reveal her latest hair transformation—a super-short blunt bob.

The actress revealed the new ‘do on her Instagram in a video where she jokingly tugged her hair in bunches until they “fell off,” revealing the new style. Biel captioned the video, “Brought back the f—ass Bob 💇🏻‍♀️,” which refers to the viral phrase for a blunt bob.

Biel isn’t the only one to embrace the bob. Blunt bobs are the new bouncy blowout, with celebrities sporting the short ‘do on red carpets and beyond. Sydney Sweeney recently debuted a black bob with bangs at the Met Gala, Gigi Hadid took inspo from style icon Marilyn Monroe with a tight ‘do, and Zendaya was seen rocking the Baroque Bob earlier this year. Not to mention, short styles have been trending for a while—wixie cuts, cowboy bobs, bubble bobs, the hairstyle options are seemingly endless.

“The bob haircut is a classic style that has been trending for a while,” says Wella Professionals stylist, Dereq Clark “Jessica's take on it adds a fresh twist with its sleek and sophisticated look.”

If you want to jump on the (super chic) bandwagon, we talked with expert stylists to learn everything you need to know about achieving and styling Biel’s adorable new bob.

How to Ask Your Stylist for a Bob

Biel’s chop is thanks to celebrity hairstylist Anh Co Tran, but your local stylist can do a spectacular job with this style, too. When you go to the salon, you can ask for a blunt bob haircut with subtle layers to achieve Biel’s style. Make sure to mention that “you want a sleek and polished finish to the style,” says Clark.

Photos are always a good idea, too! Bring reference photos of your desired look for your stylist to better understand what you want the end result to look like.

How to Style a Bob at Home

Styling a bob seems intimidating, but is actually super easy to do. Start by washing your hair with a volumizing shampoo to add body and texture, says Clark. After gently towel drying, apply a volumizing mousse, such as Wella Professionals EIMI Extra-Volume Mousse ($22), and distribute it evenly from roots to ends.

Clark then recommends using a round brush to blow-dry, focusing on lifting the roots to create volume. Once completely dry, use a flat iron to straighten the hair and create a sleek look. You can also add soft waves to the ends of your hair for a more relaxed vibe.

Finish it off by applying hairspray, like Wella Professionals EIMI Stay Firm ($20), to set the style in place and add a bit of shine. Ta-da!
