Jennifer Garner appreciates when her friends help her get her through tough times.

The actress, 51, who sat on a panel discussion with Reese Witherspoon, 47, shared how Witherspoon broke her foot while the two were doing dance cardio together.

“I think back to being pregnant. This one [Witherspoon] was sitting next to me,” said Garner on Saturday at Hello Sunshine's Inaugural Shine On Event in Los Angeles. “I think back to going through a very public, very hard moment in my life. She was right there and the way I needed to get through it was dance cardio."

Although she didn't give details about the "hard moment," she did share the experience of having Witherspoon support her through it.

"And I danced cardio-d so hard, we broke her foot, but she kept going!” she said.

“It was like, okay, we worked out at seven on vacation, we're going to work out again at two. She was like, ‘I'm going to be there. I'm going to be there.' "

At the event, Garner also spoke about how Witherspoon had provided space for her and other actresses to be able to speak freely about their industry without being silenced.

“Those meetings happened at Reese's house. And it was the first time I'd ever sat down with that many actresses in the same room that we weren't passing each other in an award show in big dresses, where we just sat,” the 13 Going On 30 star continued.

Witherspoon has previously opened up about the importance of close friendships. In September, at a conference in Boston she spoke on how she maintains her inner circle with her busy schedule.

“Editing. Edit your friendships,” Witherspoon told NBC News Daily anchor Zinhle Essamuah at HubSpot's annual INBOUND gathering.

“Everybody out there over 40 knows. If you aren’t adding to my life, get the heck outta my life. My grandma used to say people are radiators or drains. Stick with radiators,” The Morning Show actress added.
