Jekyll & Hyde announces closure on 31 Dec 2023
Drawing inspiration from the classic novel Jekyll & Hyde, a neighbourhood bar has garnered acclaim for its distinct lineup of signature cocktails. Regrettably, this beloved local hotspot is scheduled to close on 31 Dec 2023 after 10 years of operating.
Situated on Neil Road, Tanjong Panjang, Jekyll & Hyde offers Singaporean soul food and artisanal beverages meticulously crafted by their head chef, Alvin Tan. Operating hours are from 6 pm to 11 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, and from 5 pm to 2 am on Saturdays and Sundays, making it a cherished dining destination for many who relish savouring cocktails along with their meals.
This establishment provides a delectable 3-course dining experience that you can savour either before or alongside your drinks. Their starters, aptly named “To Start,” encompass the Crystal Potsticker (S$15), featuring fensi-wrapped dumplings, green onions, cabbage, and premium garlic chilli oil.
Additionally, there’s the Murgh Tikka Masala (S$22), boasting succulent chicken chunks marinated in a flavourful spice blend, served with prata and spearmint yoghurt. Be sure not to overlook the Chilli Crab Dip Bowl (S$24), which consists of deep-sea crab meat, tobiko, mantau, and yellow corn chips — a must-try delicacy.
Moving on to the main dishes, Jekyll & Hyde offers Lobster Hokkien Noodles (S$29) served with dragon chives, silver sprout and pork belly. A highly recommended dish is their Signature Char Kuey Teow (S$29) which comes with Jade wagyu beef, wok-fried flat noodles, silver sprout, and king oyster mushroom. Seafood and vegetarian options are also available upon request.
The pièce de résistance at this establishment is the Grass-Fed Black Angus Tomahawk (S$168), an ideal choice for sharing among 4 to 6 individuals. When pre-ordered, you have the choice between a butter glaze or a pesto crust. This delectable dish is accompanied by sides such as root vegetable pot, buttery nutmeg potato mash, and a trio peppercorn sauce.
Regarding desserts, you have the option to select between two choices. There’s the Apple Tarte Tatin (S$15) featuring a buttery short crust, caramelised apples, and a scoop of vanilla gelato. Alternatively, you can indulge in the Chendol Waffle (S$15), which is accompanied by green pandan jelly, candied red beans, and a delightful coconut sorbet.
Don’t miss out on Jekyll & Hyde’s signature cocktails. Starting with selections from Jekyll, you can opt for Smoke & Spice (S$24) with a combination of Smokey Monkey Shoulder, milk punch, and mulled wine foam. Or you can opt for Gabriel’s Compromise (S$24) featuring lemongrass vodka, galangal syrup citrus and egg whites.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can choose signature cocktails from Hyde. Resurrection (S$24) includes toasted coconut Vida Mezcal, cacao nib, Milagro Tequila, cold brew, demerara, chocolate bitters and egg whites. Alternatively, Curtain Call (S$24) comprises of Peanut Butter Havana Club 3, Sailor Jerry’s, spiced rum, orange marmalade, citrus, and spiced tepache.
