Jeannie Hsieh: Being a single mother is not easy

21 Jan – Jeannie Hsieh recently decided to address the previous issue concerning the identity of her child's father, following the blunder made by TV host Li Jing, who blurted out the name during her show.

The incident occurred on the set of her show, "Omg What?" last week, when Li and co-host William Shen discussed the latest news about Gemma Wu's surprising baby news and her refusal to name the father of her child.

Everybody in the studio was stunned to silence when Li Jing suddenly mentioned that Jeannie also had a similar experience in the past, blurting out the name of the alleged father in the process.

She had since apologised for the mistake.

On 18 January, Jeannie, who previously responded to the situation with a cryptic post, took to social media and shared a handwritten note which read, "I gave birth to a lovely baby at the age of 24. I don't need to explain my experiences and decisions to everyone. I will bear the ridicule, discrimination, scrutiny and judgment of others!"

"I never encourage people to become unmarried mothers. After all, it is definitely not an easy road to walk. The hardship and difficulties involved are not that simple. Strange eyes, negative labels. If you are like me, please protect your children and yourself! I will still be optimistic and strong in the future!"

It was back in 2009 that it was revealed that the unmarried singer had a son, who was 12 years old at the time. Jeannie has consistently maintained her privacy regarding this matter, previously stating, "I hope to give my family more space so that I can protect my child."
