Jason Chan's wife shares experience of ectopic pregnancy
18 Aug – Leanne Fu, wife of Hong Kong singer Jason Chan Pak Yu, recently opened up about her struggle with ectopic pregnancy, which resulted in the loss of her left fallopian tube.
As reported on Mingpao, Leanne, who gave birth to daughter Abigail in 2018, shared in a video posted on her social media page that she and Jason were actually happy when they found out that she was pregnant again back in May - but that she postponed her first trip to the doctors due to the pandemic.
However, after experiencing bleeding and abdominal pain, on 1 June, Leanne finally went to see the doctor and was advised to undergo surgery, where she was told that she was having an ectopic pregnancy, and that it had to be terminated and her left fallopian tube had to be removed due to rupture.
Said Leanne, she was very disappointed over the loss, and would sometimes imagine the foetus is still in her belly.
She also revealed that she had been resting for the past month in a similar way as a new mother does during confinement, and that she has now physically and mentally recovered. Although her risk of another ectopic pregnancy is much higher than others, Leanne stated that she is not at all discouraged from trying for another child.
As to how Jason was coping during that time, Leanne said that the singer continued to be the source of joy for her, which made the experience less tragic.
"During the few days I was in hospital, he would come visit me every day and FaceTime me every night," she said.
