Jared Leto Joins Blade Runner Sequel

It looks as though Jared Leto has joined the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel.

According to Variety, the 44-year-old ‘Suicide Squad’ actor has just signed up to the upcoming ‘Blade Runner’ sequel, opposite Ryan Gosling.

“Jared Leto has rounded out cast of Alcon’s ‘Blade Runner’ sequel,” they revealed. “Robin Wright and Mackenzie Davis also star in the film directed by ‘Sicario’ helmer Denis Villeneuve. Villeneuve will reunite with cinematographer Roger Deakins on the project.”

But what role will Jared Leto play?

Unfortunately, that’s unclear. At least, for now.

“Details of Leto’s character are being kept under wraps.”

The original ‘Blade Runner’ followed the story of Rick Deckard who hunts down genetically engineered replicants which are illegal on Earth… and also happen to be indistinguishable from human beings.

Of course, full plot details for the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel are yet to be revealed… except that the upcoming film will be set several decades after the original, which starred Harrison Ford in the leading role.

It’s expected that the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel will feature similar themes to the original film, and it’s rumoured that the story will revolve around finding Rick Deckard – Harrison Ford’s iconic Blade Runner who was revealed to be a replicant.

The upcoming ‘Blade Runner’ sequel stars Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista and David Dastmalchian.

Dennis Villeneuve will direct, based on a screenplay by Ridley Scott, Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.

Ridley Scott will executive produce.

‘Blade Runner 2’ heads to cinemas on 6 October 2017.
